　I：It represents a boundary between the secular world and the sacred world.
　G：Why is the gate painted in vermillion?
　I：Vermillion is an auspicious color.
　■Purification
　I：Before approaching the shrine, let us wash our mouth and hand to purify them. I will show you how.
　G：Yes, please.
　I：First, we take a ladle with our right hand, scoop some water and pour it over our left hand.
　 　Then, switch the ladle to our left hand and wash our right hand.
　 　Switch the ladle to our right hand again, pour water into our left palm and rinse our mouth with the water.
　 　Finally, place the ladle face down for the next person.
　■鳥居
　客：きれいな門ですね！
　私：この門は鳥居といいます。
　客：鳥居には何か意味があるのですか？
　私：通常の世界と神の神域の間の結界を表しています。
　客：なぜ朱色なのですか？
　私：朱色は縁起の良い色なのです。
　■お清め
　私：参拝する前に手水舎で口と手を洗い、身を清めましょう。私がやり方をお見せします。
　客：はい、お願いします。
　私：まず右手に柄杓を持ち､水を汲み､左手にかけます。次に柄杓を左手に持ち替え､右手を洗います。
　　　再び柄杓を右手に持って左の手のひらに水をため､口をすすぎます。
　　　最後に､次の方のために柄杓を下向きにして置いてください。
